Due to the disruptive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on nationwide education, the Youth Formation Division, where I am currently employed, has taken swift emergency measures to adapt and implement remote learning modalities for extra-curricular activities. In response to this initiative, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of designing and developing the Youth Formation Division website. The primary objective is to ensure that the platform is youth-centric and easily navigable for non-tech-savvy learners, parents, teachers, and program developers alike.

The chosen platform for this endeavor is the free online Content Management System (CMS) Weebly, which, although offering the advantage of accessibility, poses limitations in terms of customization. Leveraging my background in programming and web development, I have successfully addressed challenges arising from these limitations, enhancing the website’s functionality and user experience.

In the process of navigating the constraints of Weebly, I have gained valuable insights into adapting and optimizing platforms for educational purposes, particularly in the context of remote learning. This experience has reinforced the importance of flexibility and user-friendliness in web design, especially when catering to a diverse audience with varying levels of technological proficiency.

Furthermore, the project has underscored the significance of strategic decision-making when working with limited resources. While Weebly may have inherent constraints, the ability to find innovative solutions and leverage programming skills has proven instrumental in maximizing the platform’s potential.

In essence, this project has not only contributed to the advancement of remote learning within the Department of Education but has also provided me with valuable takeaways in terms of adaptability, problem-solving, and the nuanced considerations essential for creating effective and inclusive online educational platforms.
